Founded in the 1980s, Quisqueyana remains dedicated to its original goal of providing money transfer, telecommunication, travel and shipping services to immigrant communities. In the indigenous Taino language, Quisqueyana means“ a person from the island of Hispaniola”. Initially, we sought to serve the growing number of people migrating from the Dominican Republic to the New York area by establishing offices in Manhattan and Santo Domingo.

The dedication of our original twelve-person staff was crucial to our initial expansion. Today, we employ a staff of over 550, including some employees who have been with us for over 15 years. Their unparalleled commitment and professionalism has set us apart from our competitors. Twenty years ago, we had one office in Manhattan, which processed 40 transactions per day, solely between New York State and the Dominican Republic. Within a few years, we had branches in all five New York City Boroughs. In 1989, we opened an office in Puerto Rico. Five years later, in 1994, Quisqueyana opened an office in Spain and began to develop an agent network there. Today, Quisqueyana is a pan-Latin operation, processing over 10,000 transactions daily, to Mexico, all Spanish and Portuguese-speaking Central and South America and the Caribbean. In addition, we also deliver to countries in Asia and Africa, and will soon be expanding into Eastern Europe. We offer our services from 15 U.S. states and territories and nine other countries. Our employees are immigrants from a number of different Spanish-speaking countries.

During the past twenty years, Quisqueyana has sought to be an industry leader in the use of technology to increase efficiency and lower costs, and in regulatory compliance. Today, we are recognized for our outstanding information technology systems and for our stringent compliance processes. Our most recent innovations allow money transfer recipients in Mexico and the Dominican Republic to receive funds on rechargeable prepaid VISA cards and for customers to send money using our online service, Cashpin.com.
